Lower

Lower school students are intentionally engaged in differentiated learning experiences through multiple tiers of instruction, whereas each student is capable of attaining their highest academic potential. Consistent with LUA’s mission, Islamic principles and values are seamlessly integrated into all subjects, nurturing both the intellectual and spiritual aspects of the learner. A strong foundation developed during these formative years will empower our students with critical thinking abilities, a positive Muslim identity, and the capacity to become successful and influential leaders in society.

ISAQ

Learning the Arabic language facilitates better understanding and ability to memorize Quran.  We teach and encourage students to demonstrate and adopt the universal values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and self-discipline, and self-respect.  Methodology includes encouraging self-expression, critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and effective communication and problem solving that will improve students’ social and reasoning skills.  We do this in a safe, student-centered environment.
Our primary goal is to nurture strong, confident readers of the Qur’an who are grounded in proper Tajweed. Memorization is part of our curriculum, but it is not the primary focus—especially in the early grades.

In these critical early years, students focus on Qaida Nooraniyah, a proven and structured method to teach the Arabic language and Qur’an reading to non-native speakers. It builds the foundation of correct pronunciation and fluency, incorporating all the rules of Tajweed from the very beginning.

Once students have completed Qaida Nooraniyah, we shift our focus toward reading the Qur’an fluently while applying the rules of Tajweed. Memorization becomes more emphasized at this stage but remains balanced with recitation and understanding.
Islamic Studies will provide students with a strong foundation in the teachings of Islam, including the Qur’an, Hadith, Seerah (life of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ), and Islamic values. It aims to nurture a deep understanding of faith, encourage moral character, and help students apply Islamic principles in their daily lives. By fostering spiritual growth and a sense of identity, Islamic Studies will strengthen students’ connection to their religion and equip them to be responsible, respectful, and ethical members of society.
