Athena Baldwin

5th Grade

Athena Baldwin is a seasoned educator with 28 years of experience teaching History and English across the United States, Turkey, and Abu Dhabi. She holds dual bachelor’s degrees in History and English, with a minor in Spanish, as well as a master’s degree in Theology and Latin. She also earned a Certificate in Middle Eastern Studies and World Religions from Harvard University.

A retired U.S. Air Force veteran, Ms. Baldwin brings a global perspective and disciplined approach to the classroom. She is fluent in Turkish, Greek, and Spanish, and speaks conversational Arabic—skills that have enriched her teaching and connected her with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Specializing in classical education and the Socratic Method, Ms. Baldwin fosters critical thinking and meaningful dialogue, encouraging students to deeply engage with literature, history, and the human experience. She is dedicated to creating an inclusive, intellectually stimulating environment where every student feels empowered to grow.

Outside the classroom, Ms. Baldwin enjoys a vibrant family life with her husband of 26 years, Richard. They have three sons—Ricky, Alex, and Charlie—and are proud grandparents to Nova, Colton, River, Evryn, and Gideon. In her free time, she enjoys the company of her two dogs, Godfrey and Malcolm.

With her deep knowledge, global experience, and passion for education, Ms. Baldwin inspires her students to become thoughtful, curious, and compassionate lifelong learners.
